A group of Urhobo elite has flayed the presidential candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (Retd), his Campaign Director General, Governor Amaechi, and the Delta State governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), over what they termed as shabby treatment of the Urhobo nation.
The elite, who spoke under the umbrella body of Urhobo Movement Transparency and Good Governance, said that Urhobo nation patiently waited for the APC candidate from the early hours of Wednesday last week to about 10pm of same day at the country home of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), president peneral, Chief Joe Omene, and they did not show up.
The publicity secretary of the group, Comrade Peterson Omakpokpo, emphasized that castigation and unnecessary criticism are not part of one’s manifesto, adding that a simple explanation of what they have for the Urhobo nation, Deltans and Nigeria nation if they eventually wins and not their money, and according to the elites, that would have garnered for the APC candidates a lot of supports, rather than walking out of them shabbily as if the Urhobos are inconsequential.
The elites who expressed serious worries over the manner the party is going about its campaign, said no individual has a monopoly of power, that what the APC candidates have exhibited is a clear vision of how their government would look if it eventually come to power. They call on Urhobo nation to be watchful over who they support in order not to regret their actions at the end of the day, saying that Gen. Buhari Rtd and Chief Emerhor has shown how distinctly they will treat Urhobo if they come out victorious at the end of the day.
