Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF), Mid-West Region 111 on Monday celebrated it’s 100 years of existence with the less privileged in Delta State where food and beverages worth thousands of naira were given out to the needy.

Members of the organisation visited the Old People’s Home in Warri South local government area and the GBI Orphanage Home and Children Centre at Ubiaruko, Ukwani Local Government Area, Delta State.

At the Old People’s Home in Warri, the scribe of the organisation, Mid-West region.111, Warri Delta State, Chief Christopher Nwajiogoli, said they decided to celebrate with the less privileged people in society because they believed that all fingers were not equal.

He noted that it was the dream of everybody to grow old one day and they wanted to be associated with the old people in society so they too can grow old like them.

The scribe also said that since this is the season of celebration they have decided to share love with the old people and urged Nigerians to always look out for the welfare of the aged people in the society.

At the GBI Orphanage Home, Nwajiogoli, who was impressed with the way the inmates of the orphanage home were been cared for, promised that the organisation will continue to identify with the home.

While charging Nigerians to always lend a helping hand to children in different orphanage homes across the country, Nwajiogoli said they were at the orphanage home to let the world know that the organization was not a secret cult.

He said the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity is an organisation that preaches love, peace and togetherness.

He added that the fraternity was established and registered in the country since 1914 by a black man, assuring the public that it was not a secret society.

“I am very impressed with the way this children are well taken care of here. I think apart from what we are going to do here today, we are still going to make sure that more investment will be done here, if not from the organisation, it will be from individuals here. We are here to show the world that we should show love to ourselves. We preach peace and we pursue love. This organisation is not a secret society. If you are an ex-convict you cannot join us. We are an organisation with open hands. We do not go for membership drive. If you want to join us you can do that voluntarily. This organisation was established by Archdeacon Thomas Ogundeyi in 1914,” he said at the GBI Orphanage Home.

He said the Fraternity is a non-religious and non-political organisation aimed at preaching love peace and unity in the society. Nwajiogoli also revealed that the organisation is the only organisation that the federal government audits it’s account every year, saying “this cannot be a secret organisation if government is auditing our account every year.”

Responding the proprietor of GBI orphanage home and children center, Reverend Godwin Amaliri, thanked members of organisation for their kind gesture. He promised to make judicious use of the items donated to the home.

He said: “I really appreciate you for identifying with us. I thank God for using you to bless us. It is a good thing that you recognised that we are all fighting one cause. And it is because of the love for these children that some of us have decided to dedicate our lives to them.”
