As a prelude to the commencement of the annual Ugie, which is celebrated by the people of Benin Kingdom, the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa, has organised a prayer session to ask for God’s intervention in the affairs of Edo State and the nation at large.
The session was presided over by Ohen-Osa Harrison Okao, who offered prayers for the wellbeing of the monarch, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, members of the royal family, various categories of traditional rulers as well as other stakeholders in Benin Kingdom. Prayers were also offered for local governments in the country, Edo State, the Nigeria nation as well as for violence-free and successful conduct of the 2015 general elections.
The presiding cleric in his homily admonished those present to have the courage to forgive one another’s wrong doings. He urged them to imbibe positive attributes so as to have a violence-free society.
In a chat with newsmen, Secretary to Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, said the prayer session was a regular session for the purpose of averting unpleasant circumstances in the country.
