Jonathan’s aide bags NUJ award

The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Youth and Student Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has reiterated the Federal Government commitment to advancing agenda that would enhance the wellbeing of the Nigeria youth.

The Presidential aide spoke shortly after he was honoured with the award of excellence for his contributions to youth development in Nigeria at the 2014 annual Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) week in Edo State.

Imagwe, a member of the order of Niger, (MON), while expressing gratitude to the union for the honour, said the award will spur him to give priority attention to harnessing abundant talent of youths towards national development, adding youth matters remain cardinal point of the Federal Government.

The former president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), therefore, called on Nigeria youths to shun social vices, be agents of positive change and avoid perpetrating violence during  elections as nation marches toward the 2015 general elections.

On the award he said, “I must say that this award is special and unique because it coming from a respected professional body like the NUJ and indeed I am short of words because this is a profession shapes opinion for society. I will always continue to identify and contribute my own quarter to the advancement of the journalism profession.”

In a similar vein, the former chairman of Edo NUJ, Mike Aladenika, has bagged an award for his contributions to the growth of the journalism profession in the country, while other recipients of the award included Minister of Works, Mike Onolemenmen, Senator Domingo Obende, and Edo Deputy Governor, Pius Odubu, among others.
