The year 2014 intending Christian pilgrims in Edo State have been advised to conduct themselves in a manner that is morally and _spiritually upright, while in Rome and Israel.

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Blessing Maigida, gave the advice in Benin City at a pre-pilgrimage retreat. The retreat has as its theme: “Pilgrimage: A tool for moral transformation and spiritual rebirth”.

Maigida stated that the journey to the holy land gives opportunity for Christians to develop a new mindset and conduct themselves in a manner that is Christ-like.

She, however, stressed that the purpose of pilgrimage is to seek spirituality and not for commercial purpose.

Delivering a paper entitled: “Pilgrimage, A Spiritual Exercise”,Chairman of the state Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board,  Rt. Rev. Peter Imasuen, emphasised that the spiritual benefits of holy pilgrimage are numerous. Imasuen, who is also the Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Benin, however, admonished the Christian pilgrims to believe and hope that at the pilgrimage they will experience spiritual renewal and testimonies will abound.

On his part, Secretary of the soard, Sir Patrick Ihayere, who also delivered a paper on the theme: “Using Pilgrimage as a Tool for Moral and Spiritual Rebirth,” admonished the intending pilgrims to be thankful to God, prayerful and seek His face for solutions in whatsoever challenges they face.
