AHEAD the October 25 council polls in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship flag bearer for Warri South, Hon Mathew Mofe Edema has said the magic of winning the people’s confidence is financial prudence and the will to carry the masses along as was witnessed in his first tenure.
Edema, popularly called “Man of God” in the council area, made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent at the weekend at his Ugbuwangue residence, saying that he stepped on many toes to attain the landmark legacies he achieved during his first tenure as chairman of the council.
Edema, who applauded the outgoing transition committee chairman of the council, Dr. Austin Uroye, for building on his legacies, said he revived all the health centres in the council area and devised ingenious ways of raising internally generated revenue for the council without waiting for federal allocations to execute projects, adding that was why he succeeded largely during his first term and he is ready to improve on his past record.
Edema, who said he keyed into the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Three Key Agenda to climb to success, disclosed that he empowered women in the council area because any one that builds a women builds a nation.
He relished on the re-building of the King George Hall Memorial Hall, the Legislative Chamber of the council, the refurbishing of the council’s sub-secretariat and the establishment of a fish farm for the council that is generating revenue as some of his achievements. He said that he instituted a football competition among the various ethnic communities that make the area that ensured harmonious living and good neighbourliness to ensure that peace and security reigned during his first tenure.
