Chairman, Etsako West Local Government Area, Hassan Kadiri, has charged the environmental department of the local government to educate the people in the locality on proper ways of disposing refuse.
The local government boss gave the charge at Auchi, the administrative headquarters of the local government, while monitoring the statewide monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the local government area.
Kadiri who frowned at the level of heaps of refuse on the streets whenever it rains, however warned residents to stop throwing refuse into the drainage system, saying it hinders free-flow of flood in the area.
According to him, “my administration is trying all it can to ensure that the local government becomes one of the cleanest local governments in the state”. He expressed hope that with the cooperation of the residents, he will achieve his set goal.
He called on the Environmental Committee in the council to live up to its responsibility by ensuring that its members monitor the level of compliance with sanitation laws.
