The Federal Government has been praised for its efforts at containing the wide spread of Ebola epidemic in the country.
Niger Delta leader and development advocate, Joel Bisina, who gave the commendation, cautioned against politicizing the fight against the deadly disease.
Bisina urged the government to nip the epidemic in the bud in the country and expressed satisfaction with the efforts the federal, state governments, and the various stakeholders are adopting to stop the spread of the disease and make the country completely free of it.
The National Chairman of Ogbinbiri community called for more sensitization and advised the citizens to adopt best practice by taking precautionary measures to protect their lives.
Bisina called on the political class irrespective of their political inclination to team up with the government, as according to him, ‘’there is a lot of politicization in this country on critical issue’’.
He was particularly worried by the rate the disease was spreading in other West African countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, noting that if adequate measures were not taken, the disease could spiral out of control.
He expressed sympathy with the governments of the three countries where the disease is prevalent and commended the international community for coming to their aid.
His words: ‘’As it is we need to think globally and act locally to come out with a solution because this is a medical issue and at this point I want to commend the government and the minister of health for the ways and manners they have been working on this Ebola issue and also to the media for the role they have been playing in trying to sensitize the public.
