At least 50 officers on Thursday passed out and decorated with various ranks by the Nigerian Legion of Ex-service Men, Edo State Chapter during its 2014 second batch of passing out parade of corps of Nigerian commissionaires.
Among the officers who passed out and got decorated with various ranks was the chairman of the Sapele Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr Andrew Owhobetehe, who was decorated with the rank of a Major.
Along Owhobetehe, four other officers were also decorated with the rank of Major, and about 45 others who got decorated with various junior ranks at the exercise, which took place at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Legion, Benin City, Edo State.
Chairman of the Edo State Command, Col. Osawaru Awanbor (CNC) who led the exercise, said “The Nigerian Legion is an institution/organization established by the then Military Government under Decree Act No. 18, 1964, and also affected by the Nigerian Legion Interim Management act, 1977, and Nigerian Legion Act Decree \no, 3 of 1988, which have been repealed. The Nigerian Legion is affiliated to the British Common Wealth Ex-service League World Veterans Federation.”
