Following the erosion menace now ravaging the entire Edo North, a body known as “Save Afemai Group” has  called on the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, to put presure on the Federal Government to find urgent solution to problem.

Addressing a press conference in Benin, leader of the group, Blessing Afekade Agbomhere, said the call has become imperative to rescue Edo North in general and Auchi and its environs in particular from the disaster.

According to Agbomhere, “the erosion is capable of eroding our community someday if proactive measures are not taken now and ecological fund is meant for this purpose and the government of Adams Oshiomhole must galvanise the Federal Government as a matter of urgency and utmost importance to take action.”

The group however condemned what it described as Mike Oghiadomhe’s desperate and secret plot to steal Edo North Senatorial seat, adding, “while we await his declaration, we are reading to resist, refute and rebuke him with every weaponry in our intellectual arsenal.”

The group gave kudos to the Edo State government, Etsako Central Local Government Area and members of Fugar Progress Union as well as individuals who responded swiftly to support the victims of the recent Fugar Windstorm Disaster to rebuilding their houses.

“It is interesting to note that while these victims have more than enough funds to rebuild their homes, victims who suffered the same fate in Kogi and Benue states are still taking shelter under dilapidated primary schools,” the group said.

They also appealed to the state and local governments, agencies, organisations and individuals to come to the aid of Itseoghana Orphanage in Jattu with over 52 orphans.

“While these children deserve fatherly \motherly love and care, the leaders we voted into public office to build the communities and develop the people are busy spending millions of our naira on their household and sending their children to the most expensive universities in Nigeria, UK, USA and Canada where they pay thousands of pounds and dollars, they further said.
