Ebola: Customs distribute hand gloves to officers

Officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Port Harcourt Area I command have been sensitized on the need to prevent the dreaded Ebola disease in cause of their duty.

At the interactive sensitization session, items such as hand gloves, nose murphies, sanitizers were distributed to all those that attended the programme by the Customs Area Controller, Controller Dan Garba Kuffi.

The session, which took place at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt was attended by officers and men from the Port Harcourt  International Airport, Bayelsa and Ahoada out station.

In his lecture, the Medical Doctor in-charged of NCS clinic in Port Harcourt Area I Command, Dr Alpha Hamisu, charged them to avoid anything that would make them have contact with the Ebola disease, stressing that they should regularly wash their hands thoroughly with soap at every time, which is one of the preventive measures.

Hamisu, who briefed the officers and men of the command on the origin of the disease said, “As at today, Ebola has crippled into West Africa (Sierra-Leone, Liberia and Nigeria” adding that in Nigeria, there are recorded deaths in Lagos, and that there is no known cure for the disease now.

According to him, Ebola virus disease is real, it has killed so many persons and that it could be contacted by eating bush meat that was infected as well as have sexual intercourse with an infected person.
