The lawmaker representing Ogu/Bolo in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Evan Bipi, has lampooned the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Orji Ngofa, over what he described as “insults and show of disrespect on the first lady of Nigeria.

Evan stated that his attention was drawn to a recent publication in a Port Harcourt-based newspaper credited to Ngofa where he (Ngofa) allegedly insulted the president’s wife.

He described Ngofa as a “small fry” who reported by the newspaper to have given insight on how the role of the first lady truncated the existing peace in Rivers State.

According to Bipi, Ngofa was quoted as saying: “the greatest thing to have happened to Rivers people was the resistance of onslaughts by Mrs. Jonathan and her plan was to take over Rivers and run the state as a private company where Governor Amaechi would have little or no say in the governance and management of the state and its resources”.

The Ogu-born lawmaker also disclosed how Ngofa, who is also the deputy national publicity secretary of All Progressive Congress, described the president’s wife as lacking understanding of the politics of Rivers State and that it was her misunderstanding of her role as the president’s wife that had led to the dislocation in the politics of Rivers State as experienced in recent times.

He also blamed governor Amaechi for being the brain behind Ngofa’s attitude to Dame Patience Jonathan.

His words: “the totality of Mr. Ngofa’s grievous allegations against the first lady was the handiwork of Governor Rotimi Amaechi to disparage Mrs. Jonathan because of her ethnicity. Mr. Ngofa’s detestable disrespect to Dame Patience Jonathan is symptomatic of his masters who may not have been brought up in decorous family background.”
