Following the unending power tussle that is currently rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, which has resulted to a parallel sitting, the Vice Chairman of Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, Edobor Izebhijie, has described the outright violation of court order by the PDP lawmakers and their continuous sitting at the Hallowed Chamber at the Ring Road, Benin City as a mere script acting.
Edobor made the declaration in Benin City while fielding questions from newsmen.
He said the PDP lawmakers are only acting the script given to them by their leaders and to create undue tension where there is none.
The executive vice chairman said the PDP lawmakers should have shown some degrees of respect for the judiciary by first obeying the court order restraining them from sitting, stressing that they should have portrayed them as true honourable members they claimed they are but they acted contrarily to that and which is a violation of the law.
He said the PDP lawmakers were only placed on suspension and their seats were not declared vacant.
He said the suspension was according to the House rules as the House reserves the right to decide what it deems fit as a misconduct act provided it gets the approval of the majority of the House.
“The issue of the House of Assembly is suspension and it is not vacation. And suspension is according to the House rule and when the House of Assembly rule says that there is a misconduct, and once the Speaker or by a majority pass a vote of suspension, you are bound to obey it.
“We have the Nigeria Constitution, which is a grand-norm. It is a constitution meant for every Nigerian and once there is a violation of it, you have committed an offence.
