As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2015 general elections, prominent politicians, women and youth groups in Ibiono Ibom have re-affirmed their mandate on the member representing Ibiono Ibom state constituency in the State House of Assembly, Ime Okon, to seek re-election in office.
The Ibiono Ibom politicians extended the mandate during the inauguration of Consolidation 2015 campaign organisation of Ime Okon’s re-election in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital over the weekend.
At the event, the Uyo senatorial district vice chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Dominic Okon, who was the Chairman of the occasion, applauded the lawmaker for his effective and purposeful representation, which he described as, “impactful, meaningful, and all inclusive”.
The PDP chieftain observed, “from my interactions with the speaker of the House, Sam Ikon, he told me that Ime Okon is the engine room of the House, and so, for me and those of you who saw in him the attributes of leadership, you will agree that he has not disappointed us.
“If Ime Okon was good in 2011, am persuaded to believe from what he has done so far, he will be better in 2015. So, let’s support him so that he can go and consolidate on the good works he started”.
He maintained that the crowd of persons and the quality of persons that turned out for the event was a confirmation of the lawmaker’s impressive performance.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of the campaign organisation, Pastor Nkereuwem Udoette, on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for finding the committee members fit for the arduous task. He maintained that with the impressive performance of Ime Okon in the House, the job of mobilizing for the re-election of the lawmaker was quite easy.
“Our lawmaker by his effective representation has done 40 per cent of his re-election bid. Our job is therefore much easy, the remaining 60 per cent is left for us in the committee and all of you that are here and the entire Ibiono Ibom to mobilize for his second term”. The campaign committee chairman assured that members of the committee would work assiduously to see to ultimate realization of their assignment.
